文章参照《南通旅游信息网》所涉及的地方文化内容,采用测试及访谈的方法调查高职学生英语认知地方文化的现状.结果表明,高职学生对地方文化知识的掌握不容乐观,英语表达地方文化不够准确,且缺乏一定深度.究其原因主要在于高职英语教学中对地方文化知识的涉猎不足,课外缺乏与地方文化有关的外语实践活动.鉴于此,文章提出开发基于地方文化的英语教材,强化地方文化英语表达的技能训练,开展丰富有趣的第二课堂活动,以切实提高高职学生对地方文化的英语认知能力.

The paper, taking the local contents in the website of Nantong Tourism Bureau as the corpus, carried out a survey by methods of testing and interviewing for higher vocational students' ability to express local culture in English. The results showed that the students' local cultural knowledge was not optimistic and they could not use correct and fluent English to express the local culture in depth. That was mainly due to the following two reasons:first, the teaching of local contents in the English class was not fully stressed;second, after the class there were less practices and activities of talking about local culture in English. As a result, the paper finally suggested that in order to effectively improve the students' ability of expressing local culture in English, local contents-based English textbooks should be compiled, key English expressing skills of local cultures should be strengthened, and rich and interesting second-classroom activities should be carried out.
