信息安全、反恐暴、救援的需求，已使步态识别成为活跃的安防研究。从步态识别的研究依据、识别过程及其在智能视频监控中的性别识别应用进行了研析，通过步频、步幅推算出待测人体目标的大腿高度，依据大腿高度的概率密度函数完成目标性别检测，有助于目标分类、物品状态分析的刑侦鉴定与研究。
