公外学生的英语作文水平为什么总是难以提高？笔者认为这与公外英语教师的教学有一定的关系。由于有些教师在某种程度上忽视了英语和汉语语篇模式差异的讲授，使得学生在写作的时候带有较大的盲目性。文章分别总结了英汉两种语言的主要语篇模式及其差异，探讨了语篇模式和英语写作的关系。最后，文章指出，在大学英语教学中，教师应该重视向学生讲授英汉语言的差异，并系统地介绍英语语篇模式的特色，努力帮助学生克服汉语语篇模式对写作的干扰，从而从真正意义上使学生的写作水平跃上一个新的台阶。

Why is it difficult for non-English major students to improve their English writing? The author argues that this has a lot to do with their English teachers. In teaching, some teachers have not attached enough importance to the differences in patterns of text between English and Chinese, which results in students’blindness in writing. The paper has summed up the major text pat?terns both in English and Chinese and tentatively investigated the close relationship between the differences in text pattern and English writing. Finally, the author points out that it is of extreme importance to introduce the characteristics of English text which are different from the counterpart in Chinese. By doing so, English teachers will be able to help non-English majors to overcome the interference from their mother tongue and in real sense better their English writing.
