在“文革”时期外贸货物严重压船压港而又无力购买进口设备的情况下，国家几部委联合组织开展对集装箱运输及设备的开发研究。交通部组成的研制小组，克服设计、制造、安装等过程中的重重困难，研制出了我国第一台岸边集装箱起重机。叶才民等前辈、老师在这个过程中发挥了重要作用。研制小组中的有些人现已故去，作为当时的年轻人，笔者回顾这段不平凡的历程，记下其中的点点滴滴，并以此纪念为我国港机事业的发展作出贡献的前辈们。该成果获得交通部科技一等奖。

In the cultural revolution times some ministries and commissions in our country carried out the research of container transportation and itˊs equipment under the situation that the foreign trade goods overstocked and we had no a-bility to buy imported equipment. The develop group formed by ministry of transportation developed the first quayside con-tainer crane in our country by overcoming the difficulties during the designing,manufacting and installing. Some predeces-sors,such as Ye Caimin,have played an important role in the process and some of them were already dead. As a young man at that time,the author looked back this extraordinary history and wrote it down in memory of the predecessors have contributed to the development of Chinaˊs port machinery enterprise.
