Rudder is a very important outfitting part on a ship. In general, rule calculation is carried out towards the rudder structure during the design process. However, as far as the the deformation and stress range under the rudder force impact is concerned, the FE analysis is required for calculation. Meanwhile, rudder stock is another important part in rudder structure, whose diameter should satisfy the rule requirement. A sensitivity analysis has been carried out on the clearance between rudder stock and stock bearing in this paper.
