This paper introduces the latest technology of solar thermal energy, and discusses the feasibility of substitution of solar thermal energy collection and the application system with the marine auxiliary boiler system heat utilization system. A design scheme of solar thermal energy storage system has been proposed to make the output heat conducting oil to be reheated when it goes through the engine exhaust smoke tube without sufficient sunshine. This system can be applied to heat the heavy oil and the fresh water on board, and to supply heat for the marine LiBr absorption refrigeration equipment.
