In the teaching of product design major, the mode of promoting learning by competitions is conducive to the improve-ment of students' autonomous learning ability, so as to make teaching develop harmoniously. In accordance with the charac-teristics of product design major, this paper analyzes its current situation, and explores the significance and methods of combining the mode with product design courses through the research on such four aspects as teaching plan updating, teaching mode im-plementation, teaching evaluation system and teaching result transformation.
