周桂笙是清末民初的一位翻译家，声名虽不及严复、林纾等人显赫，也为中国近代文化发展作出了重大贡献。他不仅关注儿童文学翻译，把侦探小说输入中国，最先使用白话进行翻译，还借鉴西方小说的叙事模式。在介绍翻译家周桂笙的生平和翻译目的的基础上，对其贡献进行归纳，以期对之有全面而深入的认识。

Zhou Guisheng is a translator in the Late Qing Dynasty and early of the Republic of China.Although he is not as notable as Yan Fu and Lin Shu,he also made great contributions to the development of Chinese modern culture.He not only paid attention to children's literature translation,introduced detective novels,firstly used the vernacular language in translation,but al-so adopted narrative mode in western novels.Zhou Guisheng’s biography and translation purpose as well as his contribution are introduced for a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of him.
