经过数年的学习,大学生已具有一定的英语语言能力。然而教师常发现,大学生作文中真正紧扣主题、行文紧凑、句式丰富的好文章并不多。之所以如此,乃因写作不仅需要扎实的语言功底,还需严谨的逻辑思维和出色的表达能力。系统功能语言学中的主位推进模式可帮助学生把握文章的行文逻辑、改善文章的句式结构。在大学英语写作教学中,教师可有意识地运用主位推进模式分析学生习作的逻辑、句式问题,帮助学生改进文章框架,提高写作水平。

After years of learning, college students have already had a relatively good command of English. However, college English teachers always find that few students can do a satisfactory job at sticking to the theme and achieving cohesion, coherence as well as syntactic variety while writing a composition. The reason for this phenomenon is that a competent writer should not only acquire abundant language skills, but also possess outstanding logical thinking and expression abilities. The thematic progression pattern in systemic functional linguistics can serve as an effective method for students to organize their composition logically and write cohesive paragraphs. Hence, college teachers can use the thematic progression pattern consciously to analyze the logical and syntactic problems in their students’ writing and help the students to improve the structure of their compositions as well as their writing skills.
