地处贵阳市郊的石头寨是一个有着千年历史的古苗寨，所有的历史和文化靠口述保留至今。从本世纪90年代开始，城市化的脚步走进这个苗寨，即将被拆迁的命运使得石头寨开始思考族群的未来。通过田野调查，发现城市化的发展背景，在给这个村寨带来巨变的同时，也给其提供了契机。石头寨努力去再造本民族的文化，不仅能带来实际的经济效率，也能实现族群想象共同体的发展愿望。
