Several problems existing in electrical design, construction and operation & management of utility tunnels are analyzed. A solution to each problem is provided after discussion on the problems such as power supply, power supply of the smoke extraction fan, optimization of the distribution structure, grounding, compensation of capacitance current, material selection of the cable rack, moisture protection of electrical equipment, fire monitoring of the cable and wire, inspection and communication network, and proposals for optimization of the electrical design of utility tunnels and improvement of the tunnel function are presented.
