海南省中小学生的辍学问题关系到海南省中小学生义务教育全面普及的问题，备受省教育界关注，是教育研究中的热点问题之一。采用问卷、访谈等方法对整个海南省辍学学生的现状进行调查研究，结果表明：辍学现象普遍存在，辍学学生比率在不同区域、不同民族、不同性别上存在着差异性；辍学学生大部分使用本地方言；辍学的高峰期分别在初二和初三年级段；辍学的原因较多，概括归纳为12种辍学原因。

As the dropout issue in primary and middle schools is closely related to the overall popularization of compulsory education in Hainan Province, it has drawn much attention from the educational circles and has become a hot study topic. By surveying the status quo of dropouts in Hainan through questionnaires and interviews, it is found that the dropout is prevalent, and that there are differences among different regions, ethnic groups and gen-ders. The majority of dropouts speak local dialects and the peak period of dropout falls respectively on the second and third year of the junior middle school. The causes for dropout are various and can be categorized into twelve types.
