西坝岩体位于陕西凤太铅锌金多金属矿田东南部，是矿田内最大的岩体，其南东与华阳花岗岩相接，有人认为是华阳花岗岩体的一部分，而华阳岩体又是宁陕岩体群的一个组成部分。《陕西省区域地质志》把西坝岩体划归华力西期石英闪长岩，而把华阳花岗岩归为印支期二长花岗岩，西坝岩体比华阳岩体更老。西坝岩体北部有宽约300～700 m宽的热力变质带，主要是黑云母角岩带。近几年在南带工作发现有约宽50～500 m不等的红柱石矿（化）带，其长度大于1000 m，局部达到了工业矿体的要求，含矿岩石主要为灰黑色含炭红柱石板岩。本区是寻找红柱石矿最有利的地区之一，值得关注。
