臭氧治疗已有半个世纪，近十余年来医用臭氧作为适宜性医疗技术在我国发展迅速。在机制研究方面，已知臭氧能诱导激活组织细胞内抗氧化酶、诱导淋巴细胞产生细胞因子、改善红细胞代谢外，仍然有许多臭氧临床治疗现象未明机制，例如止痛、促进组织细胞生长等作用。临床研究方面，大量临床实践证实了臭氧治疗椎间盘突出等神经根疼痛疾病、皮肤溃疡愈合的疗效极佳；病毒性肝炎，包括乙型和丙型肝炎、轻中度肝炎到肝硬化，国内医师进行了较广泛的临床实践和临床研究，充分证实了臭氧自血疗法治疗的安全性和一定的抗炎、抗自由基和抗病毒的疗效特点，尤其在预防药物性肝炎中的作用值得重视。臭氧在其他内科疾病例如脑卒中、糖尿病、高脂血症和痛风、风湿性疾病、肿瘤辅助治疗等领域也有些临床实践或临床应用，但尚缺乏严格设计的临床研究。

Application of ozone therapy has been using for half a century in Europe and it has flourished as a suitable medical technique in China from last ten years. Although the mechanism of ozone therapy has been studied and confirmed that it induces activation of antioxidant enzymes in several organs’ cells, cytokines production of lymphocytes and metabolism of erythrocytes, yet there are numerous clinical applications without identified mechanism, such as analgesic effect, histiocytic promotion, etc. Despite of the excellent efficacy of ozone therapy in treatments of disc hernia and skin ulcer which has been long proved by many clinical investigations, Chinese physicians have accomplished extensive researches in virus hepatitis B and C, liver cirrhosis to confirm the safety and efficacy of ozone major autohemotherapy and showed its effect of antivirus, anti-inflammation, anti-radical, and prevention of drug-induced hepatitis especially. Ozone therapy has also been used widely in other diseases such as cerebral apoplexy, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipemia, arthrolithiasis, rheumatism and neoplastic diseases in clinical practice, however, more rigorous clinical trials are still required.
