Compared with conventional fan-beam computed tomography, cone-beam computed tomography ( CBCT) permits lower radiation exposure and less cost. It has been used for dentomaxillofaical imaging. Several stud-ies have showed that CBCT can promote the diagnosis, treatment and prognostic evaluation in periodontal diseases. The review summarizes the recent studies of CBCT application in periodontology.
