Venting on barrel is an effective way to adjust the muzzle velocity and conduct variable power launching. A gas chamber device is usual y instal ed on the barrel to seal propel ant gas or guide the gas exhausting into the atmophere. For different structures of the chamber device, according to the classic interior bal istics theory and gas dynamics, a mathmatical model of the interior bal is-tics is established to describe the process of variable power launching. The effect of adjusting the muzzle velocity of two different vari-able power launching schemes is analyzed and compared, the influence rules of different venting areas on the chamber pressure and the venting area of the gas chamer on muzzle velocity are studied. The results are of great significance to the development of the var-iable power weapons with external y mounted gas chamber device.
