This paper introduces the calculation of fire separation distance between the flare and equipment in coking plant. First the horizontal distance between the point which subjects to the stron-gest flame heat radiation and the center of flare shaft, based on which the fire separation distance between the flare and equipment can be worked out. This provides design basis for the reasonable arrangement of these two units to avoid damage of equipment caused by heat radiation of the flare.
