The Silk Road became historically and culturally more significant following the occupation of Hexi by the Han Empire, which successively set up four commanderies, and opened up the road to the Western Regions during the reign of Emperor Wudi. However, owing to the lack of data, advance in the exploration of the actual situation of the Han Silk Road trade is rather difficult.Combining Han bamboo slips unearthed with the excavated Zhongyuan (Central China )fabric in folk market of Hexi area can help promote our understanding of the economic and cultural functions of the Silk Road at the time. The soldiers selling clothes and other belongings on credit was a special form that Zhongyuan fab-ric flew to Hexi. The Han bamboo slips unearthed and the physical materials excavated from the Han sites can verify the related phenomena. The prosperity of the Hexi “market”facilitated the fabric trade. The active western “Gu Hu”probably played a positive role in transporting these goods to the west. The discovery of the Hexi wool can also enhance our understanding of the Silk Road trade.
