The paper proposed a method for measuring the difference among patents representing technology or patent sets representing technology by Euclidean distance, mean and standard deviation. Taking patents belonging to the technologies of wind motors areas as the research suject, the paper conducted an empirical analysis on the method. The empirical results showed that this approach can measure the difference among patents representing technology or patent sets representing technology effectively. It also can offer academic reference for exploring technology issues based on patent.
