云南省彝族居住的山区动植物资源丰富，其中不乏治病药物。一些常见民间治病药方大都来自山区动植物资源。近年来，随着山区大规模的开发与利用，出现了山区植被的大面积消亡，从而加速了民间草药的消失。民间药物的消失，一方面是生态环境恶化的真实写照，另一方面在客观上加速了西医的盛行。生态环境恶化在一定程度上加速了山区彝族民间药方的逐渐淡化甚至消亡。
