文章研究英语中的结构歧义现象：当同一组词语组合而成的表层结构拥有两种或者两种以上可能的成分组构形式时，便出现结构歧义。分析表明：层级结构与隐性变元之类的分析概念对于揭示句子结构的内部构形以及解释结构歧义的成因与运作机制具有明显效果。

This paper investigates the phenomenon of structural ambiguity in English. Structural ambiguity arises from two or more possible constituent structures of the same string of words.It is shown that notions such as hierarchical structure and empty category are particular-ly useful in helping us demonstrate the internal organization of a structure and account for the rising and working mechanism of ambiguity in a sentence.
