南宋江西弋阳抗元英雄谢叠山，其英雄事迹和优秀思想品质被后人概括为“叠山精神”：誓死抗元的爱国精神、关心百姓的爱民精神、敬老爱幼的孝慈精神、不慕名利的廉洁精神、坚强不屈的奋斗精神。其弟子为了继承叠山精神，在弋阳建立了叠山书院。千百年来叠山书院的师生们秉承并发扬着叠山精神。曾在叠山书院就读的方志敏继承和发展了“叠山精神”，并将叠山先生爱国爱民、清贫廉洁、无私奉献的精神推向了一个更高的精神境界。继承弘扬这些优秀的传统文化和精神对和谐社会的建设具有十分深远的意义。
남송강서익양항원영웅사첩산，기영웅사적화우수사상품질피후인개괄위“첩산정신”：서사항원적애국정신、관심백성적애민정신、경로애유적효자정신、불모명리적렴길정신、견강불굴적강두정신。기제자위료계승첩산정신，재익양건립료첩산서원。천백년래첩산서원적사생문병승병발양착첩산정신。증재첩산서원취독적방지민계승화발전료“첩산정신”，병장첩산선생애국애민、청빈렴길、무사봉헌적정신추향료일개경고적정신경계。계승홍양저사우수적전통문화화정신대화해사회적건설구유십분심원적의의。
Xie Die-shan is a hero from Yiyang Jiangxi in fighting against yuan in South Song Dynasty,whose brave deeds and excellent thoughts were concluded as Dieshan Spirit:That is,the spirit of loving the motherland,of loving the people,of filial piety and kindness,of honesty,and of striving. His followers built the academy of Dieshan in Yiyang so as to inherit his spirit. Fang Zhi-min,who once studied in it,inherited and developed Dieshan Spirit,and pushed the spirit of loving the people,poverty and honesty and unselfish dedication to the high spiritual realm. It is of far reaching significance to in-herit and propagate those excellent traditional culture and spirit in the construction of a harmonious society.
