By using the CBERS‐02 remote sensing images in 2008 and combining other materials ,this paper investigates the water‐eroded desertification status of the Dongting Lake and summarizes the characteristics of water‐eroded desertification and the distribution regularities .It studies the causes of water‐eroded deser‐tification from the perspective of elementary geology ,and provides scientific basis for the management and treatment to water‐eroded desertification .
