In this article, it introduced current several assessment methods for assessing pipeline plastic bending buckling strain, emphasized the theory solution of bending pipe cross-section ovalization, and analyzed the applicability. In order to determine the most reasonable and effective prediction assessment method, the comparison among prediction of pipe bending critical buckling strain formula, test data and finite element calculation results was conducted. The analysis results indicated that the section elliptical model prediction result caused by buckling deformation is more reasonable than that of other buckling strain prediction in most cases.
