作为中国教育史上与官学平行交叉发展的一种教育制度,书院属于国家儒学教育体系中的重要组成部分。它在中国历史上延续千年之久,虽历经沉浮,但对倡导儒家观念、教化社会大众起到了积极的作用。书院的教育仪式未能脱离官方教育仪式的大致框架,但它又不是官方教育仪式的简单复制。其中有两个方面存在明显的不同,一是祭祀对象更为泛化,二是参祭人员更加多元。书院的教育仪式,把经过改造的儒家意识形态的价值观和行为方式传播出去并影响社会的风俗习惯,让人们在不知不觉中体认经过统治阶级认可的儒家思想的准则,建构并维系一个有秩序、有意义、能够用来支配和容纳人类行为的文化世界。

As an education system of parallel cross development with official school in the Chinese education history, ancient academy belonged to the important part in the national Confucian education system, which has been lasting for one thousand years in China history, although has gone through ups and downs, but has played a positive role in advocating the Confucian ideas and educating the public. It was impossible that the education rite of the ancient academy gets rid of official education rite, but it is not a simple copy of the official education rite, in which, there were two aspects which was obvious different, one was that the sacrifice object was more generalized, the second is that the offering personnel sacrificing to it was more diversified. Through attending education rite of the ancient academy, the public accepted the meaning behind the nurture of the Confucianism edification; spread the values and behaviors of the modified Confucians ideology to influence the social customs and habits, made people unconsciously realizing the principles of Confucianism which had been approved by the governing class, and constructed and maintained an cultural world which was in order, meaningful, and was able to be used to control, to hold and to accommodate the human behavior.
