The author in this paper summarized the application of programmable computer controller in the plastic extruder. The rotate speed of the plastic extruder was determined by the processing technology and conditions,and the power was calculated by experiential equation. The efficiency of the plastic extruder reached the highest when the torque was kept constant at the lowest and highest speeds. The closed-loop control for the plastic extruder was realized,the control accuracy of the rotate speed and the torque of the plastic extruder were increased by using the variable frequency technology of vector control. The automatic operation of the plastic extruder could be realized by utilizing the programmable control technology and the extruder ran smoothly with high production efficiency. The extruder had the characters of easy operation, safety and reliability
