新媒体赋权作为一种实践性的社会研究，在很大程度上可以解决健康传播中存在的现实问题——通过新媒体的技术优势赋予受众通过新媒体主动获得健康信息、发展积极的健康意识，促进医患之间更加平等的对话与交流，从而在有效实现个体健康赋权的同时，以集体的方式影响公共健康政策、实现赋权健康传播的终极目标，即全面提高受众健康素养。新媒体赋权健康传播既具有现实结合的可能性，也面临着一系列问题，需要有针对性地加以解决。
