An expanding and prosperous silk road not only facilitated culture exchange and culture mixing between East and West, but also paved a way for various ethnicities of Central Asia moving to China. A typical example of this is Sogdian, one of the Zhaowu jiuxing family or nine Sogdian family clans settled in China, who lived along Amu River and Syr River and was well-renowned for trading. They moved eastward along Silk Road and settled down in Guyuan of Ningxia, where they engaged in both local politics and business. Sogdians had played a curial role in cultural exchange between East and West, demonstrating great prosperity of Silk Road during Sui and Tang dynasties. Abundant Central Asian relics excavated from a couple Sogdian tombs in southern area of Guyuan in the last century witnessed the nobility of Zhaowu jiuxing families. Also, Lingzhou, northern area of Ningxia, where those families once lived in had created a cluster of commercialized towns. In addition, a Liangtang Tomb was discovered in Yanchi county of Ningxia. It reflected Huxuan dance of Kang Country in Central Asia, and the greatness of Silk Road in the Tang dynasty and its exquisite stone carving art.
