The current DNV, API and ABS riser standards have been translated and compiled, which give an introduction to the scopes of application, failure modes, design methods and static strength check of marine risers, analyze the differences and similarities among the above three standards. At last, the parameters analysis of a project has been made to compare the security levels of static strength rules from DNV, API and ABS standards. The analysis results will serve as a reference for the design.
