the grammatical cohesive methods were treated as the surface language cohesive devices to reveal the structure of the text. This article will explore the semantic coherence and the theme of poems and by using the grammatical cohesive methods of Halliday—reference under the structure of Functional linguistic theory, so as to provide a new method to appreciate English poems.
