3D printing technology is not only a new precision forming technology, but also the core technology of the third industrial revolution, which plays an important role in the metal forming field. Due to the unique advantages of 3D printing, such as the fast processing speed, the high materials utilization, and unrestricted forming shape, it can be widely applied. The current research status of the process, materials and new-high forming devices for 3D printing in China and other countries were introduced in this article. From the market shares of 3D printing, the development direction of 3D printing was prospected.
