In times of the May 4th Movement,the Chinese society and culture underwent profound changes. Some radical intellectuals attacked on the vandalization that the old marriage and family system had brought to women,advocated freedom of love and marriage, and promoted women's liberation movement,which brought positive impact on social change and cultural progress. At the same time some people analyzed the complexity of social life and put forward rational principles of marriage and family from the perspective of so-ciology.
