A novel composite right/left-handed(CRLH)structure, which has negative permeability and negative permittivity, is presented in this paper.Compared with normal CRLH structure, the novel structure achieves a better left-handed medium properties with fewer insertion loss, wider bandwidth and fewer circuit size.A zero-order resonator band-pass filter is designed with the CRLH structure, which con-tains three zero-order resonators, and has the characteristics that resonant frequency is independent of the size of circuit.The simulated results agree well with the measured results.Experimental results show that the pass band of the filter is at 2.5 GHz with an insertion loss of less than 0.8 dB and 25%(500 MHz) 3 dB bandwidth.It demonstrates good performance and potential applications in radio-communication, navigation and other microwave systems.
