This article makes a detailed investigation of the historical development, challenge and coping strategies of American STEM education monitoring, mainly analyzing the case as monitoring system planning and implementation progress of STEM education monitoring conducted by the national academy of science and Iowa and presenting the monitoring results of the data and information based on the STEM education monitoring. It concludes: organization and implementation of education monitoring must rely on professional organizations, the index system should be used as carrier and gripper, and good system design and implementation planning are necessary.
