叶酸是一种基本的水溶性维生素，作为一碳单位的供体，在 DNA、RNA、蛋白质合成、维持及DNA 甲基化等生命活动过程中起着至关重要的作用，叶酸是所有上述反应的限制因素。近年研究结果显示，叶酸缺乏或代谢障碍会增加罹患宫颈癌或宫颈上皮内瘤变(CIN)的风险，但其作用机制至今尚未阐明。笔者拟就叶酸的摄取和代谢、叶酸缺乏影响正常的 DNA 甲基化、叶酸缺乏影响 DNA 的合成和修复、叶酸缺乏可以增强致癌病毒的作用等方面进行综述。

Folate is an essential water-soluble vitamin occurring naturally in select foods as well as in the synthetic form (folic acid)used in supplements and in food fortification programs.Folate can be a limiting factor in all these reactions,including synthesis and maintenance of DNA,RNA,protein,and DNA methylation.Recent studies have suggested that a low folate intake and impaired folate metabolism may be involved in the carcinogenesis of cervical cancer,but the specific mechanism remains unclear.In this paper we review the progress in the association of serum folate deficiency with cervical cancer,and introduce the progress in the mechanism by which folate deficiency causes tumor.These mechanisms include changes of DNA methylation patterns,impacting the synthesis and remold of DNA,enhance the effect of cancer-inducing virus and so on.
