In order to meet the code requirements on a fracture mechanics based acceptance criteria, the latest development of a PAUT image-based data evaluation procedure for detection and quantiifcation of SCC (Stress Corrosion Cracking) is presented. The data evaluation processes and techniques based on ultrasonic images using three types ultrasonic display is expatiated, including cross-sectional views ( B-scan ), plan views ( C-scan ) and end views ( D-scan ). The explanations of the data evaluation techniques are supported by the phased array data taken on a test sample with SCC. The developed procedure emphasizes the importance of the following three major factors, i.e.: 1) the wave mode selection for precise reconstruction of SCC images; 2) SCC tip echo identiifcation to avoid false judgment;3) the end view for estimating SCC depth contour. The intention is to provide a reference for the in-service NDE and quantity evaluation of pressure equipment in our country.
