公示语翻译体现了城市的人文素质和整体形象. 笔者实地调研了黄石市高校、医院、银行、酒店、博物馆、旅游景点、超市等双语公示语集中的场所,发现所使用的公示语英译存在很多问题. 文章在功能翻译理论指导下,分析了黄石市公示语语言翻译失误、语用翻译失误以及文化翻译失误现象及失误产生的原因,提出了改进的对策.

The quality of public signs translation is an indicator of the humanistic quality and overall image of a city.Many errors in the public signs translation in universities , hospitals, banks, hotels, museums, tourist attractions, supermarkets, etc.are found in Huangshi through field study .In light of functionalist translation theory, this paper analyzes the linguistic , pragmatic and cultural errors in the English translation of public signs in Huangshi and causes of the errors.And some suggestions as to how to improve the quality of public signs translation in Huangshi are presented .
