On the basis of introducing the monitoring requirements for thermal discharge at home and abroad, and the evaluation procedures of environmental impact, combining with the design of thermal discharge monitoring system for nuclear power plant, the adaptability of thermal discharge monitoring system upon regulations and standards of nuclear power plant are analyzed and compared. Through contrast and analysis, the design of thermal discharge monitoring system is necessary, and shall meet the requirements of regulations and standards. In addition, the thermal discharge monitoring system can provide foundation for operation and environment management of nuclear power plant, and guidance for composing related standards for thermal discharge monitoring.
