The reduction of collective dose is a constant challenge for all nuclear power plants ,while the de-posited source term is the main contribution to collective dose .In this paper ,the categories and the generation mechanisms of activated corrosion products were introduced , and the status of source term measurement at home and abroad was presented .Source term characterization for maintenance of NPPs was also discussed with respect to the reduction of collective dose and radiation protection optimization .
