A full searching mode is used for H .264 inter frame mode selection algorithm ,which bring a high computing complexion to the encoder .Inter frame mode selection algorithm is improved based on the fact that there is a monotonic rela-tionship between the motion vector cost and macroblock division direction .Meanwhile ,UM HexagonS algorithm is improved according to the correlation of motion vector of the macroblock and the sub macroblock .The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce about 40% encoding time with negligible change of the quality of the image .
