Objective To observe the effect of super-early activities after acute stroke on recovery and the incidence of post-stroke depression. Methods Acute ischemic stroke patients admitted in neurology department were randomly divided into super-early activities group (n=48)and routine activities group (n=47). The activities of daily living, self-efficacy, the level of depression and post-stroke depression 14 days and 3 months after stroke onset were compared. Results The Barthel Index, self-efficacy level of super-early activities group 14 days and 3 months after stroke onset were higher than those of routine activitites group (P<0.05) but the scores of depression and the incidence of post-stroke depression were lower ( P<0.05). Conclusion Super-early activities might be helpful to improve the activities of daily living, enhance the level of self-efficacy and decrease the incidence of pose-stroke depression thus improve the quality of life of patients after acute stoke.
