Studying the heroic images in Minnan folktales to reveal their unique cultural values is of great significance to the construction and development of Minnan humanity society because as the most vivid artistic images in Minnan folktales the hero images including such national hero images as Zheng Chenggong and Yu Dayou who get rid of the invaders to protect our homes and defend our country and a group of heroes of the Greenwood who do boldly what is righteous to kill the cruel and protect the good people thus safeguarding the interests of the people are the synthesis of Minnan people’s unique imagination and ingenious deduction based on the reality which are the projection of their idealistic pursuits against aggression and power in hope of the good life,the deduction of the chivalrous cultural spirit to eliminate the evil and protect the good of Minnan society,and an impact on Minnan people’s value orientation and life grasp such as readiness to help others in need and to do boldly what is righteous.
