The synthesis of poly[2,6-diimidazo(4,5-b:4'5'-e)pyridinylene-1,4(2,5-dihydroxy) phenylen] (PIPD) was introduced, and the PIPD fiber was prepared via dry-jet wet-spinning technique. Comprehensive properties of PIPD fiber were much better than other high-performance fibers. The applications of PIPD fiber were also prospected.
