从象征意义上比较，指涉性象征符号没有关键性象征符号那样突出，可是它也是象征符号体系中一个不可或缺的重要组成部分，而且在某些局部性或阶段性环节中发挥着主导性的作用。在细致田野调查基础上，深刻阐释了侗族传统民居中两种重要的指涉性象征符号———数字和语言文字。研究发现，侗族传统民居中，数字和语言文字的运用有严格的规范，而且有着丰富的符号能指与符号所指，然而它们的意义却是一致而明确的，即营建一栋能够体现侗族传统文化中幸福美满生活内涵的家屋。

Compared with the viewpoint of symbolic meaning, a referential symbol is less protruding than a key symbol. But the referential symbol is also an indispensable core component of a symbol system, and it plays dominant roles in some partial or staged phases. On the basis of thorough field investigation, the thesis interprets two important referential symbols in traditional Dong dwelling– number and language and words. The result indicates that the application of number and language and words in traditional Dong dwelling should comply with strict norms, and all of them contain abundant significante and significato. However, the meanings of these two referential symbols are explicit and consistent, that is to construct a dwelling which is capable of reflecting the connotation of happiness in traditional Dong culture.
