黄河是中华民族的母亲河，孕育了灿烂的中华文化，同时它又被称为灾难河，自战国时期开始，黄河泛滥成灾的记录不绝于书。然而，黄河本身无利害之分，用人类的智慧对其进行治理和利用才是关键。从大禹到东汉王景和元代贾鲁以及新中国时期，都曾有过成功治河的实例。因此，对于黄河历史地位及其作用的界定，不能仅凭几次河患灾害或者几个对后世有利的水利工程来论断，而应做通盘认识，具体分析。

The Yellow River,which breeds brilliant Chinese culture,is the mother river and also the disaster for all Chinese.Since the period of Warring States,the records of the disasters are frequently found.However,the key is the control and usage for it with the help of human wisdom.From Dayu,Wangjing in the dynasty of Eastern Han and Jialu in Yuan dynasty,these famous people made great a-chievements for the control and succeeds were also found in new China.Therefore,the historical significance and functions of the Yellow River cannot be relied simply on the disasters and waterworks which are advantageous for the later generations.
