Wireless sensor network is an emerging technology,which has a wide range of applications,but the wireless sen-sor networks based on the received signal strength indicator(RSSI)application need to filter the multi-RSSI values of the same node received by network. In order to have a comprehensive understanding of RSSI filtering,several filtering ways are intro-duced. The principles and characteristics of each filtering method are summarized in detail. Finally,it is pointed out that the fil-tering effect,algorithm complexity,node energy consumption and other factors should be weighed to select a filtering method or a hybrid filtering method mixed with more algorithms.
