The space syntax method provides a quantitative d-escription of the spatial structure. This paper expounds the ap-plication of space syntax, and using the analytical method of space syntax axis model, taking Taiyuan ancient city as an exa-mple, analyzes overall characteristics of traffic network in anc-ient city, to provide guidance and support for the protection, renewal and rejuvenation of ancient city.
