Good residential planning and design begins with t-he ful on-site inspection of design area, the understanding of living places, and the continuation of the regional context. In this article, the author bases on the traditional residential area in ShaPo tail of Xiamen city as an example, through the ana-lysis of the residents’ behavior living in the old street to find the new concept of community building that apply to China.
