晕厥属一过性症状，具有自发性、自限性和突然性等特点。一般认为晕厥的潜在发病机理为一过性全脑的低灌注。产后排尿性晕厥是反射性晕厥的一种，可在产妇排尿过程和排尿结束时突然发生，通常无发病明显征兆，在血压无明显改变的情况下，出现一过性意识障碍，表现为脉搏加快，面色苍白，意识不清等症状，在初产妇产后首次排尿时发病率较高，初产妇产后首次排尿晕厥的发生率约1%左右，是一种较为常见的护理意外，虽然产后排尿性晕厥通常可迅速完全恢复，不会留下后遗症，但如果护理不够及时，可能因晕厥意识丧失引起摔跌，可导致产妇骨折等严重后果，甚至可危及产妇生命。采取有针对性的护理措施避免和预防产后排尿性晕厥是近年来妇产科护理工作的研究热点之一，并已经取得了一定进展，现综述如下。
