热泵是一种利用高位能使热量从低位热源流向高位热源的装置。热泵可以从低温热源中提取热量用于供热。热泵的供热量远远大于它所消耗的机械能，热泵技术是一种低温余热利用的节能技术。热电厂采用了吸收式热泵利用汽轮机乏汽余热提高热网供水温度，从而提高热电厂供热能力、电厂运行经济性，节约能源，保护环境。
